Serve Others

How has God gifted you?

How has God gifted you?

The Church is described by Paul as one body, made up of many different parts. (1 Corinthians 12:12-27) God has given his Holy Spirit to everyone that believes in the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross for their sins, and from the Spirit are different giftings to be used to build each other up for His glory (1 Corinthians 12:4-7). The gifts are not for our benefit, but rather so we can benefit others. This applies to all believers in Christ. Being a Christian should be synonymous with many things, one of those things is that we use the gifts God has given us to serve others. It's active participation, not casual spectatorship. Being at church is not about what we get out of the experience but what we can do for others while we are together. God designed you for the church, not the church for you. This is great news! It will be our great joy to help you find not just any place, but the place God made you specifically for in the church.

This idea may be totally new to you. You may not even feel like you know how God has gifted you. That's ok! The most important thing you can do is pray. Pray that God would reveal to you how he has gifted you. Please, don't skip this step! Taking the time to seek God in prayer, is the most important thing you can do - we cannot over emphasize this enough! If you are still not certain, contact us and let us work with you to discover the ways God has gifted you.

One thing that may help you during this step is a spiritual gift test. There are many of them out there. Some are better than others. None of them are perfect. The best advice we can give is don't take them as 100% infalible. Use them as a tool to help you along the way. Below is a link to a test we have used and has been effective at MBC. It takes 45-60m to complete for some people, but is worth the time when you consider the value.

Again, we encourage you to take time and pray about this. We are excited you are taking this step and will be here to assist you in anyway we can!
